It might seem obvious and I can assume at one time or another someone as asked this question before, and it was lost to us in the great disaster.

What is the champion force power?

I can safely assume Flight, Ditto for super strength, and Magical Ability of some sort, based on what we have seen by The Carson in her battle with Deathlist during Halloween.

I could be over stating this, but to be A NUMBER 1# super duper in the world you have to be packing some heavy power sets to wear that belt.

Also doesn't the force grow in strength with every passing of the mantle. Now that is not directly stated but they did say in the opening stories that the old ones don't die in the same manner each time, they get better and that one doesn't work again. To me this seems like for every progressive holder of the mantle of champion, the bearer learns more and adds his own UUMPH to the mix to make it that much more powerful.

And speaking of the fight with Deathlist and The Carson, what do you guys think of this:

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crjr_VtlHFM&feature=relat ed

This seems like the fight that would happen on campus between those two...well as close as you would find on the Internet anyway.

Well, I can guess that the actual Champion Force amplifies the hosts natural powers and upon the death of the current champion, their spirit is added to the Force, as well as their powers. Anyone who is host to the Force for even a little while has their aging slowed to a third of the normal rate, a problem Miss Champion faced (See Lady Champion, Comet Queen, Ms Might, Lady Astarte, Headmistress Carson)

Just think that the powers are the same as Silver Age Superman minus all the silly and possibly all the game-breaking ones. Champs pretty much the Superman stand-in.

A weakness that Champion 1 and 2 (as well as Miss Champion) have is "Tartarium", which is just volcanic glass. The reason behind the weakness is due to Champion 1 thinking that he was an Olympian Being or something like that and thought that he was weak to the glass. He passed that on to his sidekicks. From Champion 3 onwards, the weakness is no more

To hold the Champion Force, one must be an AVA-5, be of Good Alignment and either have no current spirit or a weak one who does not mind being part of the Champion Force.

The Current Champion is the 6th one.

The main thing that made the new Champions stronger than their predecessors was that they learned form their mentor's mistakes, and had better training. It's possible that more spirits/spells/stuff get mashed up inside the Champion Force over time thus explaining why they increase in power, but no necessary. It is highly unlikely that the previous Champions' soul are compressed with the rest, it's the sort of thing that would have been alluded to when Lady Astarte was reminiscing of her departed friends.
Also if the champion force does grow stronger over time will the avatars for it have to be stronger as well? I mean to house something that seem to be growing into a greater totem or a archetype for heroes, will it take a higher rated avatar to be able to accept it, or does that seem unlikely.

In an almost impossible scenario could the Force at sometime in the future say 100 to 200 years if it survives, grow to be self-sustaining? Would it get to a point where it would not need a host to exist, it would literally become a class 3 entity?

Aye. IIRC it runs along the lines of:
If the Avatar is more powerful than the spirit, the spirit has the ability to grow (more fuel than it needs, as it were, allows for growth). Control is not an issue, as the Avatar forces the spirit to conform to his will. The spirit may have a minor effect on the Avatar's physiology.
If the spirit is more powerful than the avatar, the spirit is restricted (not enough fuel for it to work at full effect, so it is constantly half-starved). The spirit could also overwhelm the Avatar, and will have a pronounced effect on the Avatar's physiology.
If the Avatar and spirit are well matched, then the spirit cannot grow (obviously) but also will not be starved. It will not overwhelm the Avatar (note this is not the same as not having a marked effect on the Avatar's behaviour), and will have a variable effect on the Avatar's physiology.

There are some Marvel inspirations, like Phase. Diane seems to refer to a marvel character called The Vision when talking about Phases powers (Though I keep thinking of Kitty Pride, AKA Shadowcat). Chaka could be inspired by Taskmaster, another character who can learn by seeing something once and then being able to do it with as much skill as the original performer.

I have reffed The Vision because he (or it depending on the continuity) can do the light and also the heavy. That, and Ayla prefers that I reference a guy, and not a superheroine.

Okay, this is a concept that has been used in one way or another for decades. Hard scifi, schlock 50's movies, mutants powers, alien powers, you name it. Ayla's generic power set is not new. Ayla has done a few creative things with it.

Diane

Hhhmmm I always saw Ayla as the batman of the group. Besides the obvious lines like obscene amount of money, tragic family history, a burning desire to set the world right(his opinion) and costume similarity.

Ayla is the one with the most at hand than anyone else, much like batman, while you have the powerhouses on your side like fey, hank and tenneyo she is the one that plans the most about how many different ways to bring them down in case they go rogue like in birthday brawls ch.17. Much like batman he's so paranoid about... everybody, that he could probably think of a way to take down even tennyo in a crunch if it ever came to that.

I see Chaka was the flash, Jade as plastic and, Hank as superman, Fey was zatanna, Chou was the Martian manhunter, and Tennyo was wonder woman was far as personality shown goes

I think that the similarity is superficial. Batman is driven by obsession; a burning hatred of the criminals that took his parents from him. He seeks to take act against them directly.

Ayla certainly has his own inner demons, but they're not in the same league as the Dark Knight's.

I think a better comparison might be with Tony Stark. At various times he funded the Avengers - as Ayla seeks to do with TK. He, and his father efore him did things for which he wishes to atone, (the whole weapons biz), again like Ayla.

Actually, atonement is a fairly common thread amongst the rich, industrialist superheroes, so there might be others who fit better.

But of course, Phase is a sufficiently original creation that he isn't all that much like any particular comic character.
