Interesting origin story for Igneous, nice bit of pathos.

I like reading on my Kindle, and I like reading so many of the great fanfics here. Unfortunately, the forums are not very friendly to reading on the Kindle.
So, I thought I'd share this little tool I created to extract just the story from the fanfic posts.
This program can take the URL of a fanfic page, and it will download and extract the story from the posts on the page.
If you already saved the forum page from your browser to your hard drive (either web page, complete or web page, HTML only) you can also choose the file from your hard drive.
Once the program runs, you will have a nice, clean, plain HTML page with just the story, and none of the forum wrappings. This can be loaded into Calibre to convert to an e-book.
I created a command-line and a GUI version.
This program was written using Mono, So you may need to install the runtime to run my program. Windows users already have .Net, So they should be able to run it without installing anything extra.
The mono runtime can be found at
http://www.go-mono.com/mono-downloads/download.html
EDIT: Removed dependency on the extra library, and used standard Windows Controls in the GUI version.

I'm not sure if this is the right place fr me to post this, if it isnt someone please tell me and if you are a mod move it.
I've sttarted writing a Whatley univers story and am hoping to find someone willing to have a read through my work prior to posting. Mainly to give me an idea of how good my story is before I release it to the general masses. I'm not sure how often I will have parts ready for a readthrough as it is mostly dependent on my schoolwork on how much time I will have to work on it.
If anyone would like to help me please send me a PM.

I recognized part of this, but I think at least the last part is new. I hope the homophobic Jocks get caught this time, they are completely out of line.
Somehow I missed the original thread for this, this one probably ought to be deleted.

If anyone wants to discuss this fic you can do it here.
Feel free to comment on the characters or the writing however you want. But if anyone complains about the existence of the 'rape' scene I'll consider them foolish. I did give you a warning after all.

So, everyone's seen the stars by fanfiction story threads, and here's how you rate them (if you're not in the know):
Open the thread, and go down to the bottom of the page. On the left-hand side, you'll see something like this:

See that 'Rate Topic' menu? Open that and choose the option that fits the story best, but BE AWARE: You only get one chance to rate a story. ONE. CHANCE. Use it how you see fit.
That said, have fun!

So after how long(?) since my vignette, I'm finally ready to try for another fanfic...goodie ^^
Here's the thing though...I've been working on Requiem and well...I pleased with where he'll go (still rewriting chapter 1) but this is what is bothering me. His power source, though it might go a long to explaining why he is still alive, is Death itself. So, you can see my predicament here.
On one hand, I honestly am trying to imitate Dr. Bender (what can I say? I really love Sara's concept, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery after all...), and trying to show that all this undeath ish that's happening with the voodoo weres has finally pissed off Death. That and the resident dead man of the Olympians...well, to say Death wasn't happy with his behaviour so far would be an epic understatement. And since humans can no longer be trusted to friggin' die when they have to...well, Death has decided to bring back his Reapers (Requiem being the first).
However...just how in blazes do you keep a power like that to safe levels when you don't need to be in "Reaper Mode"? I mean I've come up with some safe guards and weaknesses...but...well why don't check this for yourselves?
Weaknesses:
- Ectoplasmic manipulators can halt his manifestation and regenerative (long story involving ectoplasm) abilities.
- Instant Death abilities can only be used on the dying/dead/undead.
- Can't kill or take part in killing anyone before their time, if anything, he has to stop such actions or risk an imbalance between Life and Death.
- Does not eat or drink, instead he needs to be at the scene of a human death to feed (doesn't consume souls, it's the energy of that person's death that feeds him) once a week. If he starves himself for two weeks, he'll "die" only to come back when someone dies around his body.
- He is subject to spells that target death itself, for instance, summoning spells and anti-death wards...
- Until he needs to be a Reaper, his powers are limited to just manifestation and magic.
And that's it...
The love child of Eris and Loki...my pet is Coyote...yes folks, be afraid, be very afraid...

Here's the idea - I've got the character of Oz banging about in my head, as I'm sure you have all your characters in yours.
A while ago, I posited the idea that we pose questions to the canon authors(here's the twist, brace yourselves) but not to the author's themselves - Instead, asking the characters, Ie, Asking Sara or Chaka Questions, Via The Good Doctor or Bek, As opposed to asking The Doc or Bek about Sara or Chaka Respectively.
So, I was filling out Aranis's questionnaire in Oz's "Voice", so to speak, for the second time, and the idea hit me - Why don't I do the same as I suggested, experimentally, and see what happens?
It might be nothing more than a waste of time, A silly exhibition of arrogance, or it might be surprisingly beneficial. It might even cause a resonance cascade and bring about unforeseen Consequences.*
Worse comes worse, hopefully, I'll get a bit of practice writing.
So, Without further ado, Shall we start?
(* - If a Creepy, Pale man in a Suit offers you a deal, take it. You'll regret it otherwise.)

So, here's a little one shot, at least for me. If anyone wants to take the character over, feel free to continue on the same thread in Fanfiction. This is the Erie superhero that, if I ever rewrite the beginning of Steamworks, I'll have Warren and his parents visit. He's a Hydrokinetic, level 5 or 6, and maybe a low level exemplar. (Erie's a Lake town, by the way, so his powers are very, very useful) So, yeah. Do whatever you like with that, as long as you let me know that you've done it.
It's a sad thing when your paraphrase is longer than the original quote.

Some of the best things in life are simple. And some of the merely good things are simple too .
That also goes for video games, some of my favorite ones are simple flash games (something that isn't that uncommon according to XKCD).
Here's one I've been enjoying a lot (too much?) recently:
BUMP!
If you have others, please share!

Just in case you haven't read the Administrative Notes thread recently or visited BCTS, be aware that Erin & co. will be moving sites between servers over the next few days, so expect some downtime.

I've been looking for this one Whateley fan fic I can't seem to find any more. It was about this speedster girl that had an imaginary friend off which she based her BIT(?), that at the end got merged into a sort of second personality while she slept?
I also remember a part were it was that one US holiday with the fireworks and she drank some soda/carbonated drink and that kinda messed her up.
The story itself might have been framed as a blog(maybe, might be thinking of another story).
These are all vague and cloudy memories. Help would be much appreciated.

Ok, I am starting this topic because sometimes, for some reason, we come across some piece of art and we tend to associate it to a person, not because it has anything to do with this person, but something about it just reminds us of him/her. All in all the basic concept is very similar to 'Theme Music' thread, just that it isn't restricted to music (it can be music, a picture, a video, poetry, whatever) and isn't restricted to character from the stories.
With that said, lets try to keep it civil and politically correct. This is meant to be like the 'Theme Music' thread, just less focused, lets keep trolling, politics and flaming out of it.
Now, just to play it safe, I'm going to play with fire and dedicate a piece to a Canon Author: J.G., it's meant to be in good spirit and I hope he will like it, if not I apologize. Anyway the piece of art is a parody video from YouTube:
"TNT" - A Minecraft Parody of Taio Cruz's "Dynamite"
Now, if anyone in the CC (TINCC) can get J.G. to comment I would really appreciate it, even if it's just a "I don't like it."
