First off, this is one of several characters that I'm developing for a group that is tentatively called the E-Team. The four members choose the group name because they all have one thing in common, they are all Exemplars.

So, without further ado, the first of four members of the E-Team.

Codename: Missing Link (mostly called Link for short)
Class of 2010
Male (gay, but only after starting at Whateley)
Power Ratings: Ex 3p/2m, Telepathy 2, Wiz 1
Name: Douglas Smart
Height: 6 ft 0 in hunched over, 7 ft 0 in standing up straight
Weight: 300 lbs
Age: 15
Hair: Black
Eyes: Black (Dark brown)
Build/Body Type: Massive, Broad shoulders (Neanderthal)
Race/Ethnicity: Australian
Place of Birth: Sydney

Association: Twain Cottage (Spring 2008, not out when assigned to cottage), E-Team (Spring 2008), Muses (Fall 2008)

Appearance: Link looks exactly how the average person imagines that a neanderthal would look, with one exception. Link's head appears normal. Link generally shuffles along hunched over, partly due to his background and partly due to his height. He doesn't appear to be very smart, although he is actually very smart.

General Description: Still under development, but origin is that Douglas is a classical Nerd Boy who manifests during school while being picked on by bullies.

Powers: Link is a classical Physical Exemplar 3, except with a Neanderthal appearance. When he enters Whateley and gets tested, he tests as simply an Ex 3p. The 2m is because he started out well above average in intelligence, and that received a slight boost as well as the typical mental exemplar package at the Ex 2m level. He discovers his Telepathic ability during his first term at Whateley (story driven). His Telepathy is rated 2 even though it is reliable and if tested would have no range limit, simply because initially it requires touch to establish. His telepathic ability is that he is basically a telepathic telephone circuit. He can establish a two way communication connection by touching a person, but once established does not require continued contact. The subject must be willing to "pick up" in order to establish the connection, and neither party can actually read thoughts other than those transmitted (like a telephone). Once Link has "dialed" a person, he can "re-dial" that person at any time and at any distance. He can also "conference call" multiple people at once, but cannot establish a connection between two people without also being part of the "call". His Wiz-1 rating is because he discovers later that not only can he learn magic, but has a knack for illusion magic.

Skills: The only skills of note beyond those of a normal schoolboy is that he starts out with a good command of Latin, and quickly becomes fluent in Latin. He also starts learning ancient Greek while at Whateley and picks that up quickly as well. He is also develops a good skill at practical jokes.

Personality: Link is a stereotypical Nerd Boy, except that he manifests as a Neanderthal. He develops into a real practical joker, but that is to cover the fact that he is still very insecure (hence the tendency to hunch over and minimize his appearance).

Weaknesses: Link has normal baseline vulnerabilities aside from the enhanced healing and resilience that Ex 3p provides. He is also still vulnerable to emotional manipulation due to being a Nerd Boy for almost all his life.

I know that there is already an established character with the name Link. However, that character is only called Link, and there is no definite indication that his Codename is Link. Also, the codename that Douglas eventually registers under is The Missing Link, which everyone just shortens to Link. As a side note, Doug's codename comes from what everyone at Twain calls him based on his appearance, rather than him having picked it out himself. And that may lead into the other Link actually being able to pick out a name that he likes, since Doug seems to fit the bill better.

Gradually fleshing out all of the members of the ETCR&R and revamping Hangfire's Origins and that means the Tracer will need a revamp as well...Hmmm

Anyway here are the founder's Stats.

Codename Hermit Whateley Class of 1995 -- Power Ratings Dev 4b2/Gad 1/Wiz 1
Name: Maximilian Yeager
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 160 lbs
Age (Date of birth): July, 23 1977 29 (As of late September 2006)
Hair: Colorless (Albino)
Eyes: Purple (formerly pink of an albino)
Build/body type: Beanpole thin
Race/Ethnicity/Religion: Roman Catholic (Germanic descent)
Place Of Birth: Berlin, New Hampshire

Assoc: ETCR&R (Founder)

Appearance: Think Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) with long hair in a albino white ponytail, tends to wear a lab-coat over his data-suit and rain-boots.

General Description: Maximilian Yeager, while he had top-grades in subjects he took (although he had the odd poor showing in his Combat Finals) Tried to not stand out, instead he filled a niche of making items that improved and somehow worked with other devises and gadgets.

Once he graduated Whateley and MIT he followed a similar course and set up his lab in Tyler, Texas. He was eventually convinced by the Mayor to found a super team, since Tyler wanted to have something to brag about(compared to other larger cities in Texas). Also Also to look good compared to Longview, their rival city, who had recently gotten a political black eye (in the eyes of many Texas-based Super-teams) due to some mutant lynch mobs just south of them in Kilgore.

Powers: Max is a Generalist Devisor with a Touch of Gadgeteer and Some Wizardry under his belt (the last he took in Whateley because he was curious on the relationship between Magic and Devisors, he has published Nothing yet.) He has a few minor patents that enhance already existing products on the market.

He wears Armor with a bipedal crablike-motif that brings to mind a more complex Invid from Robotech. Armaments include: PFG (Personal Force-field Generator) with triple redundancy, gauntlet lasers, advanced (devisor) sensor suite, AG Package, LIMP Thrusters, and plasma cutters. it also contains internal hard-points for other weapons systems as needed (most common are Electomag guns, sonic cannons, Goop guns, and Laser guided Electron Gun)

Skills: Metallurgy, Exotic Metallurgy, Electronics, Automotive Repair, Hard Suit Construction and Maintenance, Avionic Construction and Maintenance, Anti Gravity Theory, Theurgy (Initiate level) Doctorate in mathematics, Biotechnology theory.

Personality: Most of the time distracted yet somehow seems to know what is going on when brought bad to earth. Tries to avoid social situations if possible.

Weaknesses: Normal Human Weakness

Just to try and get myself back into he swing of things, I'm making a "Whatley-fied" version of my personal avatar (name changed because "Heckfire" is a doofy codename)...a cookie to whoever can identify the joke connected to her powers:

Hexfire (2010 - Female) -- EX-3, WA-ib, ESP-1 (Precog, Danger Sense), MAN-0a (flame)
Name: Unknown (Answers to "Leigh")
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 98lbs
Age (Date of birth): Unknown, physically adolescent
Hair: Black
Eyes: Yellow w/red irises
Build/body type: Slim, athletic
Race/Ethnicity/Religion: Caucasian (presumed)
Place Of Birth: Unknown
Assoc: Whitman Cottage

Appearance: Leigh is a black-furred "catgirl" with a thick "mane" of spiky black hair, black fur in a mask-like pattern around her eyes, down the bridge of her nose, along her cheekbones and the outer surface of her overly-large feline ears, down her spine to her semi-prehensile tail, across and around her shoulders, down her arms to the back of her hands, across and around her hips, down her outer legs to about mid-thigh then over her entire legs to the tops of her feet; her palms and soles are bare. She has short, retractable claws on her finger-and toe-tips and slightly elongated canine teeth. The "whites" of her eyes are actually yellow in color, and her irises are red; she has cat-slitted pupils. She manifests a small flame on her forehead and tailtip at all times, but it is mostly illusory and gives of little noticeable heat; the size and heat of the flames on her forehead increases with each use of her powers, however, until she consciously "jinxes" something to discharge the "quantum excess" built up.

General Description: Leigh is a victim of late-manifestation burnout, resulting in moderate GSD, physical and mental regression to early adolescence, and trauma-induced amnesia.

Powers: Leigh has the "normal" powers one would expect from an Exemplar 3 "catgirl" type, such as enhanced senses, agility, strength, and so on. Her primary power, in appearance, would make her seem like a probability manipulator, able to induce "good luck" in herself and "bad luck" in opponents. In truth, however, she can subconsciously perceive all possible outcomes and "shift" herself or her target dimensionally to the timeline that contains it (this was only discovered during testing, when one of her "jinxes" resulted in a melee weapon breaking; once the weapon was studied, it was discovered that the flaw which caused the break was apparently always existent, despite previously not being there at all).

Prolonged usage of her powers causes "dimensional friction," however, resulting in the flame on her forehead increasing in size and intensity that can only be dispelled by consciously casting a "wild jinx" that significantly alters the state of its resultant target in some fundamental way, the extent determined by how much "quantum excess" is discharged to return Leigh to her base state. At present, however, she has no control over these "wild jinxes" beyond when she releases them; previous discharges have resulted in a lawn of purple grass, a streetlamp gaining apparent sentience (and growing the necessary organs and facial structures needed to communicate with its surroundings; for the record, it is now named "Bill"), and the transmutation of a 2006 Ford Taurus into a 1:25 scale replica of the Eiffel Tower and surrounding grounds.

Her ESP talent is linked to her Warper power and triggers it in response to perceived threats regardless of whether Leigh wishes it to or not.

Skills: Leigh has a natural gift for athletics, as is almost expected, but she is also a voracious reader and shows a knack for creative writing and drawing, as well as an aptitude for mathematics; she is however severely lacking in geographical skills and tends to get lost easily besides, and despite her exemplar memory tends towards absent-mindedness at times. Otherwise, she is a bright but largely unremarkable student.

Personality: Leigh is friendly, cheerful, and polite under most circumstances, although she does occasionally succumb to the moodiness and melodramatic tendencies inherent in adolescence. Secretly, she is deeply disturbed by the thought that she was once someone else, possibly someone completely different than she is now, and it haunts her regularly; however, she is very private about any worries or grief, preferring "suffering in silence" to "burdening others." By contrast, however, she can be almost obsessive about others' feelings and will do everything in her power to help a friend in need...or an acquaintance...or a total stranger...just chalk it up to an overactive sense of good samaritanism, if the word exists. She has a particular sore spot regarding sexual abuses, however, and tends to distrust males in general, which her counselor believes might be a significant clue towards her pre-burnout identity.

Weaknesses: Aside from the aforementioned unpredictability of her "jinxes," most of Leigh's weaknesses are emotional and tied to either the loss of her previous life, guilt and fear over her powers, or her bone-deep need to help people, whether they need it or not. Also, her "wild jinxes" tend to leave her physically drained, with particularly potent ones causing unconsciousness.

Her enhanced senses are also easily overwhelmed due to her inexperience with them.

Codename:Bishojou
Power classification: SH-1/2 (1-tfsam when she enters Whateley, 2-tfwam when she leaves), REG-2
Name: Damia nee Damien Perez
Sex: variable, identifies as female
Sexuality: prefers dominant women, identifies as a sexually submissive lesbian
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 113 pounds
Hair: very dark red (in embroidery terms DMC 902 blended with DMC 310)
Eyes: amber brown
Skin: light brown
Build/body type: Slender but muscled, vaguely androgynous, presents as a girl
Race/Ethnicity/Religion: Latin@ lapsed Catholic
Place Of Birth: Los Angeles
Assoc: Poe Cottage, Underdogs

Appearance: She's attractive enough in all her forms that she can be mistaken for a low level Exemplar, but even her facial features don't really give much of a clue as to her sex. It's the way she moves, speaks and dresses that mark her as female. She wears her hair long, down to the bottom of her shoulder blades, usually tied back at the nape of her neck and she puts a lot of effort into performing femininity, including wearing a skirt at all times, and dressing to emphasise what she does have in the way of curves.

General Description: Damia was born a boy, to parents in fairly well paid professional roles, but always wanted to be a girl, even if he didn't really know how to explain it. When her powers manifested she became a shapeshifter, with 5 distinct forms - all human. These five forms are variations on herself, one female, one male and three different intersexed options - one she-male, like Ayla, and two bilateral hermaphrodites: one like Merry/Paige/Petra and one like Hank when he has sex with Lily. Her three apparently female forms are all AA cup size. As a full male she's approximately 10% stronger than as a full female, and as a full female she's approximately 5% faster and more flexible than as a full male. She changes between her five forms at random, or at least that's what it feels like to her.

Her parents are fairly accepting of Damia choosing to present as a girl, since he was pretty femmy as Damien too and faced some bullying because of that. The plan is for Damia to spend long enough at Whateley to learn how to control when she shifts, then transfer to a more normal school (or apply for college early if she can) and in the meantime her parents are seeing about finding jobs in a different part of the country, so she'll be able to start at a new school as their daughter (if anyone asks about her name Damia's going to say that her mother's an Anne MacCaffrey fan - actually Damia's the one who's the fan). Her older sister isn't too happy about the plan, but accepts it because after all she's about ready to start college herself, and her younger brother doesn't really care; he'll miss his friends but he's sure he won't have problems making new ones, and if he's lucky he might end up a mutant too, only one with cooler powers than Damia. Damia understands that with the cost of fees at Whateley, even with her partial scholarship, the longer she goes there the less likely it is that her parents will be able to fund her through a good college, so she's pretty driven to gain control of her shifts.

She's pretty smart, and tests into academic classes between one and two years ahead of most freshmen when she enters Whateley. Her parents made sure all of their children learned how to defend themselves from a young age because they'd been bullied themselves and remembered that you need to confront bullies and make it clear that you're prepared to make them pay for hurting you. So she won't start a confrontation, but she'll do everything in her power to defend herself. She takes BMA (her parents asked about the availability of self-defense lessons before sending her), and the classes she needs to learn how to control her shifting, but other than that she tries to avoid the superhero/villain classes. Some of her academic classes are primarily self-study, but she doesn't really mind that, prefers it in fact as it helps her develop skills she's going to need later in life.

EDIT: She's free to use for anyone who wants her, as long as her main focus on learning to control her shifts is rerained.

These three kids are those possesed by one of the Princes of Hell, fragments of them or just entities claiming to be as such. They are not true Avatars or even mutants, simply young teenagers who had possesed artifacts attach themselves to them in a manner irremovable. All of them suffer from something similiar to Deidrick Syndrom or Rager's, caused by the demon taking the fore.

~

The first is Billy Goldstein, possesed of Belzebub, the Lord of Flies. His codename is Fly Lord. The artifact is not whole but shards of something lodged in his heart. The powers it gave him caused him to uncontrollably manifest deadly diseases, spores and other viral pathogens neccesitating that he be sealed in air-tight suit when not in his sealed room in Hawthorne. He is now a Junior, wherea the rest of the D-Three are Freshman, and has gained better control of his powers but he has chosen to remain in Hawthorne, partially because he may unconscious manifest diseases in his sleep. Before, he was also hideous, his body bloated with puss and disease but with control he's changed that and shows signs of Exemplar like beauty. His body was always supernaturally tough.

Most bullies fear him and rightfully so. He represents a threat they cannot fight back, much like anything Jobe can create. He is one of the Bully Busters and known to take ironic revenge on those who pick on others. Otherwise he is known to keep his head down and his thoughts to himself. His only extreme behavior has been a reaction to when Puppet has a spill. He apparently knew about preternaturally and knocked some guy aside to get it, scooping up the deadly poison in his hand to gobble up down his throats. Since then, he has been barred to even go near Puppet and standard procedure for during a spill is to make sure he is restrained.

~

Maria Sangre is the second, her code name is Bloodreaver but she is also called Bloody Mary. She is possesed of Behemoth, who isn't listed as one of the Seven Princes of Hell but claims to be the prince of rage. As might be expected of this, she shows all the signs of a Class 3 Rager. While in a rage, she possesed Ex 3 capabilities. In an out of a rage, she has Reg 5. It is actually a good thing she is a woman, making her less susceptible to go into a rage except at predictable intervals, her period, when she must be locked up in her room for the duration. Her artifact are a pair of three-bladed over-sized tiger claws that only appear when she is in a rage. Most of the time, they are 'bound to her soul' or so she claims.

Maria is actually an incredibly polite and kind girl who hates what has happened to her. Those who have fallen victim to her rages wake up in the hospital with an apology note and a plate of cookies.

~

Stephen Mearls, code name Wizard (Guess who was surprised that wasn't taken? Everyone), posseses a knobly staff possesed of Mephistopheles which cannot be seperated from him for long. It has imparted unto him the dark secrets of magic, secrets he is liable to whisper in his sleep, neccesitating his room be magically sealed at night and precaution are made to make sure noone is around to listen to things man was not meant to know. He is a class 3 Wizard, but the preparations he is capable of are quite diverse and frightening.

He is the leader of the D-Three. He grouped them together at the face to help them, promising Maria he would find a way to free her of Behemoth or control him and he helps Billy with his Bully Busting with insidious curses. However, he is suspected to be playing at gaining a power base of his own for his personal purposes.

~

Their is a fourth student possesed of a demon, Rylee King, AKA Fetish Fuel. Wrapped around his neck is the Vice Grip Collar and sealed inside it is the Princess of Hell, Lillith. He is an involuntary shape shifter, taking the form of those that those around him lust after. Sometime, though, when he becomes Nightmare Fuel, visions of those that those around him fear take his shape. He is also a slow but extensive regenerator, meaning he can regenerate from extensive damage but at a baseline rate. When 'dead,' he goes into a coma like hibernation.

He refused Wizard's offer to join D-Four although like the rest he is Hawthorne for his own protection mostly. He does not enjoy his powers, or being sexualized by everyone around him except as a heterosexual male. He chooses only a small group of friends, those he trusts never to take advantage of him.

Manga: Hajimete No Aku
Author and Artist: Fujiki Shun
Link: http://www.mangafox.com/manga/hajimete_no_aku/

Manga whose amusing take on the interactions between an evil organization which is rebuilding itself and a fledgling group of heroes who're attempting to become well known enough to pay for their meals...or maybe just so they can be heroes with food thrown in somehow.

Imagine blind leading the blind friendly villains with occasional visits from effective but confused heroes.

Since Halloween was a Bust, I wonder if private Mardi Gras parties might become something...more.

Wants to see Caitlin on the Stomp-Stage and the party might help with the winder doldrums.

I was on a trip to Saint Paul's Cathedral, in London, recently. I went on a trip to London for my graduation from college, it was fun, I met a mime.

While I was there, I discovered the dome has a unique feature. There is a gallery where you can hear someone whisper across the area. It worked, I told my brother to flip me off...and he did!

My first thought was to Whateley, which is probably a bad sign.

And the trip was awesome, but this one detail comes to mind.
