You know, if Jadis wanted to get the devil out of her, she could just ask Lindsey to get her dad to do it.

But at what cost? We have no idea why Devilmaster does what he does

If she gets Lindsey to ask, it'll probably be a much reduced cost. What we've heard suggests that Devilmaster will do a lot for his little girl.

Or Jadis is a rape child or that is what is implied (in my view) in the last section of the story and The White Witch hasn't filled anything with the courts out of concern for the child, who would you trust to raise the child right, a super-villain or the government?

I didn't think that, when Jadis talks about her dad I don't get the impression of someone who would rape.

Oh, and by the way... wonder if Mal has a different mother?

I wondered the same thing.

Leonardo da Vinci: Is that so?
Dilbert: Yes I tried to model my carea after yours: Engineer, inventor, artist
Leonardo da Vinci: No no no, those were all sidelines, I am at heart a businessman

I agree with you there

Would the reason Ole Dr Dad bound the devil to her be because without it, her PK shell would look very similar to the White Queens?

Any sufficiently unethical experiment is indistinguishable from Hell.

Or maybe he didn't have a choice. It could be a result of a deal he made when he was younger and stupider. How many stories are there of people making deals for their offspring? Rumplestiltskin comes to mind.

LuLou I've been wrong before, and I'll be wrong again. But I could be right this time.

I got the impression that he'd do almost anything if it supported his cause. It's hard to reconcile any other conclusion with his body count of over 17,000. That said, I don't see how raping the White Witch to get a couple of kids would support his cause any more than just finding a willing woman to bear his children.

I'm getting some sinister vibes from the White Witch, personally. Bored frost sorceress playing the part of the hero is what occurs to me, with some disturbing longish-term use for a daughter. Dr. Diabolik might well have put in the devil and the implant to protect Jadis from her mother. Or, alternatively, they might be part of a sympathetic magic affair to in some way contain or constrain her mother. All pure conjecture, based entirely on the completely unsupported belief that the White Witch is really a villain.

Dr Diabolik strikes me as an extreme consequentialist. Which is to say, if he figures out there a way to save 1001 people's lives, but it will kill 1000 other people and there's no way to reduce that number, then he'll do it with a clean conscience because 1 more person was saved than killed. Think "the ends justify the means" dialled up to 11.

With that type of moral system there are no hard and fast moral prohibitions, since its only what comes out your actions that matters. So I could see him raping the White Witch if and only if:
1) He had some grand plan to meet his objectives that requires The White Witch to have children.
2) There was no available alternative to get her to have children.

If those conditions were met, then I'm sure he would do it. Otherwise, I don't think he's the sort of person that would do that.

Well, the White Witch is the major villain in the Chronicles of Narnia, which is where you might be getting the idea from. And Jadis does seem to have a Narnia fixation, unless she was just joking when she said her wardrobe had everything except a pathway to Narnia, and she was working on that.

I think she was joking. And it probably was a *repeated* joke every time she showed the wardrobe to someone, considering:

1. Her name.
2. It's a WARDROBE.
3. She ALREADY used it as an endpoint to a gateway (to the Bad Seeds clubhouse).

I mean, she could hardly AVOID the joke. If she didn't do it, somebody ELSE would.

Ah, but there was the lion when they all went over to talk to Jadis and make sure that Ayla wasn't being brainwashed. Remember? Rythax, Kimba, and Pern?

Might be more like a marriage that didn't work out, WW tried to change Diabolik like a lot of wives and SO try to do,but gave up in the end and decided the children where safer with him.

This would actually make more sense, well, at least to a point.

Which is more likely to be seriously targeted? The children of a super hero, or the children of a super villain?
