Just fyi, there is a potential for some server downtime coming up as servers get relocated.

"Relocated" is good news. It gives a longer-term perspective on the servers. Their current status (running at Bob's former home, on his relatives' sufferance) is just a short-term stopgap.

I hope everything goes well with the move. We can deal with a scheduled downtime, even a days-long one. We survived an *unscheduled* downtime in very worse circumstances, after all.

Should I put the downtime note on the wiki?

Might be a good idea. I don't personally know any exact details other than what's in that blog post.

I don't know if anyone else has read the financial figures Erin gave us, but as a result I have donated my share. It would be a real downer if after all this work the servers were not comming up again because the financials were lacking.

We aren't as involved in the nitty gritty of the relocation, etc., as some are, but we are involved in the expenses. It'd be really nice if we contributed our share toward the expenses, since we benefit from what is being done. I've donated $70.00 so far toward the cause ($35.00 for Whateley, $35.00 for BCTS).

Well, I talked with Erin this evening and confirmed that the move is going to happen next week (probably Monday,) so that's the start of the downtime and I'm told it will be at least a day or two before the site comes back up. When it's back up the word will be put out.

Welcome back once more. Hopefully the chaos is over and we can now return to our own brand of madness. Very Happy

Great thanks to all those who were involved in the rescue and re-location of the servers, Warren, Erin, Piper et al. Thanks also to those who helped keep the updates flowing over at the wiki and BCTS. They kept the light at the end of the tunnel burning brightly in the gloom!

John.

I was so happy to see this site back up!

Thanks to all involved in the relocation of the servers, both for the act itself and for the speed with which it was carried out.
