In fact, I'm a little worried about what "Christmas Elves" says about her mental state - she killed a heck of a lot of people without thinking twice, and suffered no lingering psychological damage. Granted, these were mooks, but Jade doesn't live in an animé world. Contrast Nikki and Chou, who both suffered mentally from having to kill humans (albeit innocent ones).
You can add Sara to that list. Or Ayla for her distress at merely hurting innocents. But on the other hand Fey and Tennyo didn't seem to have any psychological backlashes from their own Christmas mass slaughters.
Quote:

...Wait. Perhaps... in her mind... she does live in an animé world? She rooms with a living physical duplicate of Ryoko, after all. Maybe that's how she's justifying her seemingly-insane actions; by convincing herself that this is some kind of fantasy world where everything will turn out all right in the end.
I get the feeling she *isn't* justifying it at all - she hasn't come to the point that she has needed to justify it to anybody, she hasn't realised it's something that needs justification.

The following joke came up on my Non Sequitur comic calender today. I thought it might be relevant.

The Political Zoology Field Guide
Today's Specimen: The Couching Tiger (Perpetuous Victimus)

Indentifying Characteristics:
The innocent, kitten-like appearance is the most effective camouflage for this malevolent ambush predator. It has the uncanny ability to avoid scrutiny and aggressively hunt its prey by couching every situation to appear that the tiger is the victim. It will continue playing the victim role while devouring its prey.

Habitat:
Deep inside the partisan jungle.

Natural Enemy:
Harsh daylight.

The statement in my signature is false.

Jade is to Whatleyverse, 'Puss in Boots' is in Shrek 2.

Think about it:

  • Both do that adorable sad-eyes, that distacts/disarms her opponents
  • Both are much smaller than most of their fellows
  • Both - When it goes to a fight, go all out, in your face-fighting.
  • Both border on edge of good & evil. Puss was a hired killer (hit-man, or rather hit-cat), Jade has resorted to blackmail, & supposed necromancy Wink .

And I sure you can spot more similarities.

The similarities *are* rather striking.

Of course, Puss acts as comic relief for part of the movie... and Jade wouldn't be caught *dead* acting as comic relief.

After all, Jade's incredibly hard to catch. And being dead is what Jinn is for.

Well, as cabbit has shown, she's also a small cute animal that acts as a comic relief.

You know, I think one person DID point out Jades' 'tragic flaw' best...

She's tirelessly devouted to whatever cause she champions, and does NOT think things through...

Witness the clustrefrak that was aiding Tool. Also witness her deal with the Starstalker.

Next to my character (non-canon), she is probably 'most likely to accidentally destroy the world. (Sorry, my character has the futures statted out!)

Tennyo said early on that nobody hurts Jade. Chou said something in similar spirit later on. Nikki wasn't just prepared to, she *did* step into a fool's circle for Jade's sake. And I think Sara would go to great lengths for Jade as well.

And, when it comes down to it... Sara DID refuse to bind with Jade's soul and seemed rather worried that Tennyo/Star Stalker HAD bound to her.

We never have found out what exactly Sara and Nikki discussed regarding that situation, beyond Sara telling Nikki that Jade had a demon's mark on her butt. Maybe she's worried for Tennyo and not the other way around.

Oh, I'd certainly have to say ultimate evil here.

Seriously, anyone who wears 'Hello Kitty' has to be pretty darn evil. Just take a look at this picture of the average 'Hello Kitty' fan:

Evil, ain't he?

So THAT's what Jericho's power armor looks like!
