I'm enjoying Shade. The characters are believable, and I like the family dynamics. The pesky little sister is well done. I like the chase around the house scene -- he is mad and chases her down, but it is really in fun and he doesn't hurt her.
The scene where Kyle gets beat up by the four thugs is upsetting -- which means that it was well done.
I like his discovery that his exemplar or regen powers are kicking in. That fact leads to some interesting possibilities.
I can see him approaching each of the four thugs and asking if they know who beat up his little cousin. The fact that he is free of any bruises should give the thug in question an 'oh crap' experience -- especially when Kyle tells him that he is going to show his cousin the year book and make the cowardly (four big guys ganging up on a little girl?) perpetrators pay dearly.
I'm not a vengeful person, but I hope they do get theirs.

I did try to make it as traumatic as possible. If it gave that effect, it worked. ^^

Well, I do have plans for some of them, I'm sure you'll see. Might take a bit though...
But... It does give me some ideas here. BRAINSTORM TIME!
And thanks for the comment. ^w^

Well, where does he go from here I wonder? Silly question! He goes straight to his doctor to confirm. At least, if Kyle is smart he will.
And then, to Whateley!
But anyway, it must suck to be Kyle right now, and I can't help but think he's not out of the woods yet.

What always struck was, if you think that guy is a mutant, shouldn;t it bother you that he may come back for revenge, this time with eye beams and pyrokinesis?

Well, I'd be afraid to mess with them. I meant, I'm not gonna kick a guy who may or may bot Hulk out on me.

The most frustrating thing for Kyle has got to be the lack of evidence in re the beatings; he's healing up so fast that other than damage to his cloths theres nothing to indicate anything happened.
And that each beating/healing is accelerating the change; he heals to his new form, not the old, so the change, which has lead to the beatings, becomes greater still after each beating, which triggers a worse beating; the closer to being killed the faster the change.
But with no proof of the beatings there's no way he can convince his parents to pull him out of school, which has become the very definition of hostile environment.
It's becoming painful to read this story, I start to cringe, bracing myself for the first blow, seeing no escape from an impossible situation. Which, of course, testifies to a well written story.
Powers wise I'd guess a regen 3 or 4, exemplar ?, and nothing else has jumped out to date; not a speedster, that's for sure, and not stronger or more agile; seems to have a BIT, given the TG with no clear exemplar traits.
And when the next section is posted, I'll be there, reading it, hoping against hope that Kyle somehow gets out of this increasingly deadly situation; if not for the regen he'd be dead by now.
