Actually Book, no using the forums allows people to look at subjects that interest them and it can be monitored to stay on topic.

More times than I care to think about seeing a topic I was interested in, start out great then travel in such a different direction that if you ask "What was this topic about?" You'd have to look at the subject line to remember.

It was something I tried as a method of letting people know I updated the site.

Well Book, unfortunately we don't have a crystal hall mail server so I'm stuck using my own email.

Actually you do have a mail server. Looking at the email headers I'm guessing that you entered the message into the Fudforum software. It then handed the messages off to the mail server software on the system that the forums are running on. The underlying system calls itself gemini.ralabs.com and is running an older version of the Sendmail mail server software. It'd be fairly easy to set up Sendmail to forward mail sent to something like warren@crystalhall.org to another address somewhere and would be usable for all the domains Bob is hosting. If Bob were interested in something like this I'd be willing to help get it set up.

If you're going to do this regularly you might consider putting an identifier inside square brackets in the subject line the way that mailing list software does.

Actually, I never got it at all. I use yahoo, which doesn't block stuff unless I specifically tell it to. It just dumps it into a spam folder which I still look over before deleting contents. I always look it over, since once in a while it dumps one wrongly into spam. 99% of the time, you post the story within an hour, I think, of the last time I check it for the night. I thought it was just your way of getting me. Evil or Very Mad

Your email didn't arrive here either. Question

I checked my Spam/Junk Email folder to make sure.

It has joined all those 1000s of emails lost in the ether.

I use google for this name, and it wound up in my inbox. Unfortunately, I only log onto Google to check that inbox once a week, on Monday morning (almost everything in it also comes to my main box via another route), so it doesn't help me.

It probably would if I decided to route it to my mail client, but so far I haven't done that. Partially because I suspect that if I mixed my real name with my pseudonym, I'd send stuff to the wrong place...

Not bad I didn't mind I'd think that those here on the forums would be interested in recieving an update announcement.
