Getting back to the Jade and Alchemy thing.
From Destiny's Wave:
"She had been stunned by the revelation that she was a Level 2 Healer. That was another aspect of things that had surprised her. Those exercises made her feel warm and comfy. They also classified her as a Level 1 Devisor since the sword mentioned that she would be taught Alchemy at a later date."

This suggests to me some interesting things.
1) A devisor status can be learned similar to magic.(The sword has shown no signs of giving Chow any power that a ordinary human could not learn under the right conditions and with dedicate training. Jade has a league up here because she can experience days at 5 to 1 and get 40 hours of study a night as she sleeps. She is master of the cram session. See note below)
2) Alchemy likely covers more than just making talismans and enchantments.(Second Seraphim story suggested that it may only be for making different magic items. but the above quote suggests the possibility of more.)
3) Alchemy is treated as a Science and a Magic in this universe. (They are counting her as a Devisor and not a magic user so that suggests it's seen as an abstract science even if it does create magic items.)
So Yes Jade can take Devisor classes, and she could in effect under the right conditions become a real Devisor.

I know it will likely never happen but I keep imagining Jade decked out in steampunk hello kitty Gear of her own making.

Is there anything that invalidates my theory?
NOTE: Someone double check my math on the Jade days.
4 spirits + 1 physical = 5 Jades During the day.
5 Jades * 16 waking hours a day = 80 Hours
5 spirit Jades * 8 sleeping hours = 40 Hours
40 + 80 = 120 hours a day if she pushed it to the max.
so 7.5 waking days (16 hour cycles) for one real day, if she pushed it.
With those numbers if Jade were able to do that from day one and went her whole 4 years at Whateley doing that she would experience 10956 days or almost 30 years.
Jade has time to burn to master almost every class Whateley can throw at her.

In fact with the way she's been using her powers, she has already been at Whateley almost three quarters of a year by the end of fall.

I believe that I previously ran similar numbers (thought they were eaten by the crash), she won't quite qualify as a Time Abyss, but in terms of hours of existence, she's going to be about Ayla's age when she graduates. =)

Alchemy might be the Science of Magic (leaning more to the magic side then the Science side.)

Although I plan to have Dr. Corbin Underwood work on the crossover from the Science side via Quantum Physics (now I just have to fine a QP primer)

Well, apart from physical-body Jade needing to sleep, you seem spot-on.

4 spirits + 1 physical (note that this may change in the future as her power grows). Physical body needs 8 hrs sleep, so have 24*4 + 16 possible hours of study, total of 112 hrs per day, or 112/16 = 7 times as much possible study time as normal.

She could completely 'goof off' with her physical body and still rack up 6 times the normal possible study time, with that 6 times study having uninterruptable concentration, tireless attention span and near-perfect recall.

Have Fun!

My calculations suggests she knocks herself out by summoning another Jinn to sleep (which she has done) so 4 during the day and 5 at night.

This is an extreme use of her power and she never constantly uses that many during the day.
she normally uses 3.

and as someone mentioned her power may still be growing and we have Jet to consider, I want to see what power Sara is using to sustain her. and whether she is a physical being or a spirit attached to Sara as Jann is to Jade most of the time.

Yes, it will be interesting to see where Alchemy goes once it starts being actually used. It's easy to get wild and fanciful when dealing with the unknown (VERY fun) but I want to see how close to the mark we are.

and I'm still seeing Jade in steampunk and lots pink with red bows Holding something that looks like a mix of a musket/hand cannon and the caster from "Outlaw Star".

Something like that only less plushy.

Sure she'll be the age of the others when she graduates, because she is not warping time, she is just being 3+ people at any given time so she has the chance to experience a LOT more than most, Almost all the benefits of time travel without the paradox or aging.

There are some other calls on her time.

Working at her student job, (which typically takes 2 at a time).
Doing chores for herself and Tenyo.
    Hanging out with Team Wondercute.
    Hanging out with Team Kimba.
Other money-making schemes, with Ayla or in the workshops.

I suspect she'd also be very reluctant to split off too many selves as that would limit her options if she was subsequently attacked, or something else unexpected cropped up.

So, still a lot of available study time, but not quite that much.

Totally right.
She will never press her powers that hard all the time, this is just thinking of what she can do.
As she gets more powerful and can make more for the J team then she will likely continually use more.
For now though she has ether constant or near constant use of:
Jade, Jinn, Jann, and Jet.
Jet may or may not diverge so much from Jade they are permanently two separate characters so I would safely count it as an average of 3 days experience when Jade is up, and 4 to 5 when she's sleeping because that is when she does the cleaning and studying.

Ah, I was more comparing that Jade will be about 40-ish (subjective time) years old, while Ayla gives the impression of being a 40-ish business magnate, who's skipped most of that childhood thing he's heard about (which TK are trying to catch him up on a little).

Haven't read much Ayla yet so not fully familiar with the reference. he does seem to be a slightly over paranoid behind the scenes type.

Was talking with Diana Castle and I mentioned he seemed almost sociopathic, but she assures me he just has 0 social skills at the point I have gotten in his plot.

I'm afraid that you guys seem to have overlooked something about Jades night-time Studying. Her spirit selves need recharging every two to three hours. If Jade is asleep then she cannot recharge her spirit selves so they only have as much time as one charge in which to study while she sleeps.

Jade's first action on waking is to charge up Jinn, that's recorded in one of the stories. So, while Jade still manages a significant increase in her study hours it is not as much as you guys are speculating. Sorry.

John.
