Oh, this is about an all-new character too.

Ooh good New stuff / new characters are always welcome
Hopefully as writing new stuff in the Whateley universe will get you back in the mindset, eventually (over the next year or so - we're not expecting miracles!) you may be able to ease yourself out of the block on progress with Anecdotal Antidote Apocalypse (or whatever it's called).

Was it just the title that was an issue? Wouldn't a nameless story of an Elder God be thematically appropriate?

AAA is done, the next Sara story never did get a title I was happy with.
| Is AAA the one whose title you aren't happy with?
Since it's done, is it already in the queue, or are you waiting for something to add it?

That was not what I meant in that scentence, no. I said I wasn't happy with the working title of the Sara story after AAA that is not finished. But since you ask, no I wasn't happy with the title of AAA either, it was the best I had at the time.

Just to be clear on this, the three Whateley stories in the wings are:-
-Envy and the Gilded Cage: Finished, waiting for review by the Cabal, may be changed depending on feedback before being placed in the queue. This is SOP but unfortunately getting said feedback takes a few weeks.
-Envy 2 (working title): Envy arrives at Whateley, September 3rd 2007. I'm still working on the plot but the start of Chapter 1 is there.
-Sara Next (working title): Covers events leading up to, through and slightly after Christmas over November/December, including the start of the feud with Jobe and the introduction of Jet. Also, what happened between Sara and Nightbane during Halloween.
AAA ended with Halloween 2006.
Of course I've still got FatIT 6 to finish and Bek, being the left hand of the Devil herself, is tempting me to write a Shadowrun story while the right hand, DPRagan, wants a Trinity fic...
The statement in my signature is false.

You have been quite busy, point by point:
- Envy: looking foreward for it
- Sara Next: that's a lot of stuff there (no, I'm not complaining), also I thought that Sara Vs Nightbane was a Noodle Incident
- AAA: no idea here
- Shadowrun: oh, I love Shadowrun
Thanks for your work.

According to the Wiki, A Simple Game covered the tail end of September (17th - 27th), while Insanity Prerequisites 1-3 covered the period between the aftermath of the Boston Brawl and the day before Halloween (15th - 30th Oct). Insanity Prerequisite 4 covered the day after Halloween (with flashbacks to Halloween itself), so I'm guessing AAA goes into more detail of 31st October - both before and during the calamitous events of the evening.
Sara Next probably starts fairly soon after the post-Halloween interview and covers the aftermath and beyond.
-oOo-
Meanwhile, of course, we've got the origin story for "Envy" (no doubt about as far removed from Sara's as you can get - not that that's difficult!) to come before the summer (plus several non-Whateley stories). Given most Whateley characters are still in early 2007, Dr. B's probably got a few years to get Envy 2 finalised - by the time other authors have caught up sufficiently for the 2007-8 school year to start, he may have written Envy 3 (and possibly even the Sara story after Sara Next).
Added onto which, if Renae reappears there might be additional stuff to come (given Paige is part of the Pack)...

(Does a double post count as such if the two are separated by 72 hours?!)
We've a Diane Double Bill this week: Ayla 9.8 (Pantagruel) on the main site, and another update to Deadly Heller in the Authors Corner.
So presumably next week, we'll return to San Francisco and find out how the Loose Cannons are doing (unless another author secretly slips something in the queue)...

I was wondering ... are the stories that were posted in the Author's Corner early this year going to go up in the main site? And I've noticed the "stories by author" pages in the main site are several months out of date, too.

As Diane gets around to it she'll be putting things in their proper places. Between RL family and job, writing and posting multiple stories, editing multiple stories, site maintenance, and a few more things I don't know about I'm amazed (and happy) that she's managed to do as much as she has.
So huzzah! Diane

I don't remember anything specifically regarding the Whateley Canon, but on commercial settings (Star Trek, Harry Potter and such) authors make a point of *not* reading fanfic. EVER. Because if they do, and one fanfic happens to do something similar to what they intended to do in the canon, the fanfic writer can later sue them for plagiarism. That's also why some authors go to the trouble of documenting *when* something was written or even outlined, so if this comes up anyway, they have some evidence that they were already working on it before the fanfic was posted. That's also why publishers (used to?) have submissions editors: to insulate authors and copyright holders from unsolicited submissions.
But Whateley is a shared universe, and the authors regularly read both the forums and (sometimes) the fanfics. Also, there's no money in it -- at all. The main reason the canon authors will not use a reader's idea, from what I understand, is that it either is redundant or is incompatible because of something that has been already planned years in advance and is in the Canon bible. But sometimes they will take contributions. There are two canon characters who were created by fans, for instance.
Don't call me Shirley. You will surely make me surly.
