It has come around again. Happy Star Wars day to one and all.

Have Fun!

(Edit) I have just found out the probable origination of the quote (at least, what is probably the first time it got 'airtime'), in an old Count Duckula cartoon (YouTube linky here). Kudos to Aaron Williams of 'Full Frontal Nerdity' for the info dump. Have Fun!

Mundane uses of a lightsaber.

The obligatory tech rendition of the Imperial March.

Perhaps inevitably there are even ponies celebrating...

How about a steampunk R2-D2?

There are oodles more tributes to the day on Google+ - including several Lego setups, more renditions of Imperial March, LOLcats style tributes and even a Star Wars themed burlesque show!

So I was thinking about the lightsaber and how hot it would have to be to do what it does.

Why does it not kill its user via facemelting heat when they hold the hilt near their chest with blade vertical?

Or why does it not cook everything in a room by being activated?

Actually, Wikipedia places an earlier find in, of all things, a Margaret Thatcher campaign ad in 1979.

My guess, plasma level entrapped in a shaped EM field.
