Found a fun manga (is it still a manga if it's french) that is Whateley-esque.
FREAKS' SQUEELE
Three students battle sadistic professors, annoying roommates and evil conspiracies at a second-rate university for superheroes. A French comic with heavy stylistic influences from American comics and Japanese manga, and tons of pop culture references.

It features one of the most unusual 'conquer the world on a shoestring' ideas I've seen.
Anyway, I enjoyed it and wanted to share.

| Ilutu-Lili wrote on Sun, 29 January 2012 00:40 | Is anyone familiar with this online serial, called "Worm"?. I found out about it through good reviews on general guides to webfiction. I think it's really well written and well thought out, and I've been following it regularly since I first found out about it. I'm still trying to figure out how the powers of some of the characters would be classified under Whateley Universe's standards(I think Tattletale's ability is the one I like best, although the main character Taylor/Skitter is very good at coming up with creative ways to use an unconventional superpower). Also, it's fun to imagine how various superpowered individuals and teams in that fictional universe would measure up against Whateley's major characters.

Just started reading it, thanks for pointing it out. Got thru chapter one, and I think it is great so far. I think Taylor would most likley be labled some sort of ESPer. Tattletale is most deffintly a telepath.(edit jumped the gun, after explanation of her power, going with ESP)
Do you know this is still on going? How often it's updated? Cause I have a feeling I'll be done reading it before the week is over. I just can''t seem to make my self pace out the reading of something new so it last.

Author of Worm, here. Glad you're enjoying.
It is still ongoing. It's updated twice a week, Tuesdays and Saturdays, 1 minute after midnight, EST. I'd like to think I'm pretty reliable - I haven't missed any updates yet, 6 months in.
I'm also going to be putting in a donation button with incentive: If I get enough total donations to reach a certain amount, I'll add a bonus interlude (side story) on the next Thursday, so there's a chance of more updates that way, once in a (long?) while.
I look forward to you commenting, if/when you do finish the archive binge.

I just finished getting up to date with Worm, and it's really rather good. So that's more time wasted...

Fancy seeing you here, frozenchicken.
Thanks for the mention & the subsequent referrals, Ilutu-Lili. I suspect that the visitors from Crystalhall, here, are a big part of the reason for my record viewership the past few days. You guys are boss.
In the interests of contributing to the topic: Ratman is a manga about superheroes in a more western style, a good person as a bad guy, and it's surprisingly good/funny given the fairly simple premise. I just became aware of it last November, though it's apparently been out for a while.
Description:
Meet Shooto. He's a bit vertically-challenged. He also wants to be a hero. But guess what? Midgets can't be heroes! Ha! So he becomes a villain instead. Sort of. Not really. Wait a minute here, why is he so heroic if he's supposed to be the bad guy? And what about the so-called good guys? Why are they so... evil?

Just in case anyone's been following The DarkRealms Universe over on TopShelf (which Maggie and Dr. Bender have been playing in), there's now a wiki full of background information on the characters and events...
