Bek, any idea if we'll get more Jadis stories

I already have one planned, and a few more. However, at the moment, I'm busy working on something else, which does include Jadis. And before we get to the 'next' She-Beast story, we may go BACK in time to answer the question, 'What are supervillain Christmases like?'

Chestnuts roasting on an open lava pit?
Jack Frost nipping at your nose - with grafted-on cyborg arms?
People with eyes all a-glow because they drank Jobe's punch?

Inquiring minds want to know,
Diane

No, no, no.

That'd be Chester roasting over an open lava pit. With a nice soothing audio track from the scene.

Bah that's boring, it's expected.

More likely just a normalish Christmas with calls from various villains wishing them well, and with a get together that is crashed by superheros or psychos-villains.

Ok here is something that occurred to me in a very round about manner, so explaining how I got here will take a bit of wording.

I was home after a six day work week and decided to unwind with a good story and reread saks and violence before the next one came out and afterwards, I settled down to watch the last three harry potter films on DVD.

I noticed a character more so this time then I did previously because bek's story was still flouting in my head. That character was Tonks.

Or at the least the actress that plays tonks, when I saw here the this time I could not help but think that this was the person that most resembles what I picture jadis to look like when she is described in stories.

By herself she is attractive and cute but around other people like fey or pristine she tends to fade into the background.

I think that this woman could fit that role, she blond the hair and give her forelocks and presto. Jadis

The actresses name is Nataila Tena, she is older than the jadis character would be but to me this is what Jadis would look like when she finished maturing.

What do you think?

What do I think? That's not a hatchet face.

Afternoon Tea with the Devil's Daughter
Jadis certainly hadn't gotten the Exemplar 'ugly duckling into beautiful swan' genes, like Solange. Her hair was still slightly curly and resistant to whatever hairstyle had been intended, pretty much as it had been when her governess had tried to make her into a little china doll every morning before Montessori school. However, her hair color had changed to a stark white. Or had she bleached it for some reason?

Her face was still sharply defined, instead of softly rounded like those of the 'pretty' girls who had teased her back when she was in school with me. Her face was long and angular. An unkind person might describe her as 'hatchet-faced'. I wondered if she still had those bright brown eyes which always gleamed with intelligence.
Jadis isn't really one of the many "cute but not beautiful" girls. She has a physique that is actively distasteful to some people.

Sojiro, in the story you quoted it says "an unkind person might describe her as hatchet faced." That does not sound like "actively distasteful" (your words) to me, Jadis is not a malformed ugly mutant (which is what the phrase you used says to me), just not a pretty one.

To curiousreader, Natalia's face isn't quite as narrow as I envision Jadis's, but with curly white hair it wouldn't be too far off.

Not "a lying unkind person". One has to be unkind to say that sort of thing because it hurts, not because it is wrong. As it explains, it's a long and angular face.

And I didn't say she was ugly. I said actively distasteful to some persons. Meaning that those who don't like girls with sharp and angular faces will find her below average.

We have plenty of girls (and some boys too) who are described as "sort of pretty but nowhere near as good looking as the Exemplars around" in the story. Molly, Anna, Jody, Evvie, Joe, etc...
Jadis is not one of those.

I sometimes wonder (jumping on the tail end of the previous discussion)... what if that Devil her father put in is actually having an effect not only on her "Beast skin" but... her normal appearance as well?

Did she always have that white hair? I can't remember, but if she didn't have back when she and trevor went to school together at, was that Montessori? If she didn't have it back then... maybe she has more than just the MENTAL traits of an exemplar, but they are being negatively affected?

Certainly possible. Remember Jadis has the reflexes of an exemplar 4.

Bek often mistakes a "hatchet face" (looks as if someone buried a hatchet in it) for an overly sharp/narrow Face.

All the dictionaries I can look up seem to be on Bek's side, but this could be a case of competing definitions depending on region.
