Not sure if I missed an existing thread, but here's one for all those wacky/useful ideas you have. If they're good enough, I'm sure someone will pick them up.

Let's start with mine:

Skinmail (Trademarked, of course): A few microns thin layer of threaded nanoware, which upon impact hardens to absorbs, distribute and dissipate impact. The gadgeteer version would be the equivalent of two inches of steel armor, the deviser six inches of armor that would also offer adequate protection from heat and excellent protection from acid and lightning.

I've got an idea for training equipment that should scale from baseline to high level exemplar- non-Newtonian fluid pool for swimming laps in. I'm sure some gadgeteer must be able to invent one that has just the right viscosity curve for ideal use against any level of strength.

How about a device / gadget for the simulator to combine several students and their powers into one simulator character.

How about a device / gadget for the simulator that student could switch on / off that can imitate a character and their powers like Godzilla, GOO or another student.

How about a device / gadget for the simulator to swap images but not powers. (Looks like Fey doing Ki stuff and Toni doing powerful magic.)

Might be lots of evil fun.

Headphones combined with music player. Gadgeteer version has a cable uplink to a computer so to load songs. Devisor version plays whatever song the person is thinking of without the song being loaded onto it.

The devisor version 2.0 has customizable banlist, after someone started making signs that say "Rickroll, lol" and people complained.

Devisor ring that turns furniture into leaves and back again. Useful for those who have a ton of stuff and not enough space to store it.

Air Jesus shoes. Need I say more?

Devise: Portable tap. Looks like a faucet without a sink, or pipes, attached. Actually uses subspace transmission to get water from a properly fitted water main. Can be tuned to connect to different liquid sources, if they're properly prepared, so it could either produce water, or soda, or blood, if there's a tapped source of the proper liquid.

This actually reminds me of SCP-294: http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-294

Coffee machine with some of the same properties you're talking about.

I'd like to see a whole team equipped in steampunk. Everything steampunk. Real steam power. And just as efficient as the best electronics, hydraulics, combustion powered, plasma powered systems etc.

I'd like to see someone make power armor like Samus Arans'. Problem is that the devisor/gadgeteer who made it doesn't exactly know what parts are Gadgets and which parts are Devises. Obviously the Ball morph and PID are devises, but it gets tricky when the arm cannon is involved. Unfortunately, Phazon is Alien Phlebetonuim, which the canon authors have banned the usage of. Add to that Nintendo might get angry in-universe if someone starts calling themselves Samus and this gadget/devise combo won't be seeing the light of day in the WU.

Sounds like a good Halloween costume. Very Happy

My devisor/mage character will eventually make the magical equivalent of nanotechnology, and will end up with something similar to the Witchblade when mithril is added to the mix.

Other than that . . . if you have seen the Valkyrie anime, there is a catgirl transformation gun.

So, Professor Steamhead meets The Difference Engine meets The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen?

The problem with Steampunk in the Whateley setting, is that the Steampunk ethos is 'Bigger Is Better'. BIG boilers. BIG pistons. MASSIVE arrays of cams and shafts. A steampunk suit of 'power armor' would be the size of Tiny Tim, and well, then you start talking scale problems and it all goes downhill at an amazing rate of speed.

To Be, or Not to Be; this is a question?

Has a Devisor ever got together with a Mage to make a Golem-Tiny Tim hybrid bigger and better than any alone could achieve?
