I'm curious what people think about creating a story discussion sub-forum. Basically it would be a place to comment on each story individually in one place. As is, an author needs to create a post like this themselves in some other forum or just follow the discussion about the main character. This would also be the best place for feedback that might be useful to the authors.
Also, by having threads dedicated exclusively to a particular story, it would give new readers a (relatively) safe place to comment without risk of spoilers (good luck doing that in the character forum).
This is of course assuming it's not too much trouble to create a new forum and move existing threads over to it.
Edit: Another option would be to convert the author's forum to this purpose (which it sorta is) but be explicit and create a system. Then again, there are sooooooooo many stories that it might be nice to have these topics segregated.

It sounds like a good idea in theory, however looking at the way that the threads wander, I think that it is simply doomed to fail, and would just complicate things further, by adding yet another forum, to read through.

Well, the reason I made the suggestion is because I know it could work, though it might take a few weeks to get established. My inspiration comes from El Goonish Shive (awesome webcomic that I'm sure most people here would enjoy). Every time a new comic is posted, a discussion thread is started on the forums for that specific comic. These threads are dated and include the comic title. Posters often race to see who can create the new thread first (can't be done in advance since the title is unknown) and then subsequent posts go into the oldest thread (if more than one was created).
You can say fans will do as they will, but without even attempting to guide them, don't write off imposing structure on a forum. Like I said, we could simply convert the author's section to this purpose (could add it to library too), but I would want its description to be changed to encompass this additional focus.
Edit: Looking around, I'm finding story discussion threads posted in news, crystal hall, and authors' sections. Seriously, we can do better.

Well, to be honest, it's not just Dan Shive's forums that does that. Many other forums do that as well - almost all of the Blank Label Comics forums do that, and most of the Keenspot/Comics Genesis forums do it.
The best thing to do is let forums develop themselves, which this one has over the last few years. Trying to impose comic related structure on an irregular story forum is kind of futile.

How is that being an ass? From my own experience, sounds quite reasonable.

Back to invoicing, or I don't get paid.
