Actually most of eastern Washington is a desert, and we just came out of a drought. Almost all of Washington relies on the snow pack from the Cascade Mountains.
There is a huge water reservoir when going over Snoqualmie Pass on Hyw 90 that is finally full for since I can remember. Last year it was so low I thought it would dry up. This last spring when I drove by it there were whole trees underwater.
