Why would you think that?

Actually, I'd forgotten about Phesclangorenthal, so it's not such a strange idea. Although I'm with Sir Lee: that was a special case.

The authorities strong stance against regen milk seems like a mix of laziness and paranoia. "We don't know what it's going to do and we can't be bothered to figure it out but some other regen stuff is nasty so we'll just ban it."

Actually the Pompous Authorities stance is more along the lines of "Different mutants with lots of Regen have had different effects and consequences, so there's no way of telling ahead of time which effects we'll get this time. And we hate getting sued." Very Happy

It's

"I am created Shiva, the destroyer, Death, the shatterer of worlds."

I really enjoyed "The Destroyer" books up to about 65 or 70 then they got way to stupid. Before that they were good entertainment and Satire of the Genre.

Why would you think that?
He was fed on Jade's milk, not her flesh. Top scientific minds expected it to be therapeutic, not transformative. If simply ingesting a secretion, which would not be expected to contain live cells was sufficient, then simply breathing the same air as Jade would be a significant hazard.

My logic is that since it carries the regenerative property (otherwise it wouldn't help the baby) it has the same possible outcomes as the history described telling why you cannot use regen blood for transfusions. Look what it is doing to Phes whatever from the ending of that same story. It's clearly turning him into a human baby. So we might end up with 3 Jade's. OMG!!!

The reasoning on why it could help was that mothers milk can help with illness or at least help jumpstart the immune system, a regenerator could help heal what's wrong much easier, with the kid, he had a mundane but very serious illness, it interpreted what was wrong with Stewie as being made of ectoplasm and therefore not being real. Probably wouldn't work for other Pinochios, at least unless they had some aspect of being real already, but it worked for him.

I have already tackled this in some other thread.

Problem: regen cells can take hold and reproduce inside a host, eventually turning the host into a clone of the cell donor. Therefore, they are treated as a biohazard.

Blood has a *lot* of live cells. A transfusion places those cells in an environment where it's *expected* they will live. Therefore, the risk of regen takeover in a transfusion is very, very near 100%

Milk, OTOH, only carries a few live cells. Those cells are ingested and taken to the digestive system, beginning with the stomach -- a part of the body specialized in *destroying* and *taking apart* nutrients. Chances of a loose regen cell taking hold and reproducing (instead of being instantly killed in the highly acidic bath full of protein-breaking enzymes, for instance) are small. OK, they are not zero, and there's a small risk of the cell attaching somewhere safer like the mouth or oesophagus. So regen milk is still treated as a biohazard, despite the risk being much, much lower than a blood transfusion. It's like radiation: having an X-ray is much lower risk than licking enriched uranium, but it is still a risk that has to be managed.

Now, Phesclangorenthal. Stewie didn't have a real digestive tract, only a simulation of one -- which *didn't process the food in any way*. He himself remarked that nutrients passed through with no alteration. So, the eventual milk live cell was *not* destroyed in the stomach -- it rested there, safe and snug, in a liquid full of nutrients, for *hours*. Plenty of opportunities for it to attach to a pseudo-intestinal wall and begin reproducing.

And there is a chance of a full clone, a chance for a mindwiped clone, a chance for a clone with the memories of the person infected, and a chance that it will just give the infected person regeneration. We don't know what will happen, and as he's not human, it could cause all sorts of issues that wouldn't happen otherwise.

Shouldn't this be on the regen and healing thread, or the Phesclangorenthal thread? Having said that - I'd presume that there is no chance of Phes. losing his mind, since it wasn't in an actual brain to begin with, being maintained in the fake-baby virtual body by magic, so there's no overwriting possibility.

It only takes one cell, just takes longer to get started. And I should have probably said in my first post in this line that it would PROBABLY or MAYBE turn the little boy into a copy of Jade.

Old Phessie (Stewie?) will undoubtedly do so. Since he has no cells of his own.

Yes, it takes only one cell. But this cell has to survive a very hostile environment (a stomach), an environment evolved to break proteins. It could happen -- but it's very unlikely. If there were a LOT of cells in the milk, the chances would improve; but cells in milk are rather rare. Milk duct cells do not have any special protection against stomach acids; drop them there, and they will shrivel and die before having a chance of reproducing at the regen-accelerated rate. Regen is not magic.

"Probably" is still wrong. The people who planned the whole thing are EXPERTS in regen. Do you really believe that they would go to all the trouble, expose themselves to massive liability by knowingly induce regen takeover in a baby... just so Jade could grow breasts? No, they know the risks and considered it low enough to be acceptable.

"Maybe" is better, but does not emphasises enough the low, low probability involved.

He's talking about the demon that she babysat. With the unpronounceable name who at least some of us call Stewie.

I think I'm to blame for that nickname ^///^

Alas, the original thread where he gained the nickname died in the big crash.
