I was re-re-reading "Quote the Ninja Nevermore"this evening to find some info for a project of mine (I'm working John really) .
And I noticed that the Blackmailer who targeted Alya and her family has not been delt with .
Unless you count the phony list Shehad grabbed by the end of the battle/story ?
Did I miss something ?
Are the canon author's holding this back too ?
Am I the only one wondering ?

| Let's see... No, yes.
| Quote: | I think since Ayla wasn't devloped as much as I believe was the original intent, that story has had to wait.
| Yes, that's it exactly. This was originally ScramblerJ's plot thread -- a person from Ayla (or Trevor's) past -- someone who had either known them or known of them, and spotted an opportunity. It would work like a classic blackmail progression -- ask for something easily obtainable, at relatively small risk to the victim, but handing over that is equivalent to handing over the proof to a far greater betrayal, leading to ever larger blackmail.
The plan was busted, the blackmailer faded away. They never vanished (heh heh), but that particular thread hasn't been tied to them. I suppose we really OUGHT to pick it up. Heck, we've given a few obscure clues and references. All of us know the backstory and who the blackmailer is very well (well JG might know know this yet). But (how to put it?) it just hasn't come up in stories, and it would be kind of odd to drop it in now. Considering that the threat was against Ayla, it may need to be Ayla who stomps this person for their trouble (for dramatic reasons). And none of the rest of us have been inclined to tell that story -- we had our own stories to tell.

| Hmmm, not sure about that.

Yup it is a dangling plot thread of the type that hang about waiting to
catch some unsuspecting soul and trip them up later on.

I went away 2 weeks for Thanksgiving and came back to find every forum
marked. It took me a good portion of the evening to catch up on all the
posts (still haven't read the fiction). Nice going guys!
I've been thinking that Tansy was behind the blackmail note since she
knows Ayla. Wasn't there a short stream of thought in a story where she
regrets the failure of the blackmail plot? Or was that unidentified?

Hmmm, I don't know. The whole point of the blackmail was to identify Tennyo -- that is, the blackmailer wished to know exactly who Bill Wilson had become. These are the people involved in the Ultra-X-Amine plot. Serious black ops stuff. Somehow, I don't think Tansy qualifies -- she's too egotistical.
Sure, she knows Ayla. But, OTOH, Ayla's transformation wasn't exactly low profile. There were lawyers and injunctions floating around, and Eris knows how many strings the Goodkinds had to pull just to keep the whole sordid scandal out of the tabloids. Which means that any paranormal research conspiration worth its salt probably got wind of it -- c'mon, not only the irony of a mutant Goodkind is too delicious not to become the hottest topic of gossip among both the super-scene and the high society since Marilyn sang "Happy Birthday" to JFK, but there is also the matter of the Goodkinds employing that crazy doctor -- who's undoubtedly unethical as all getout, but also is considered one of the top researchers of the field, and worth keeping tabs on.

| No, we out-clevered ourselves in the writing on this. (We introduced unnecessary complications.)
The idea was, the note was sent to "Trevor" (Ayla's name back before she started to change). However, Ayla had been assigned a room at random -- room 202. Later in the day, Jade hears that room 302 is good (from Mary and Juanita) because it's got better sun, etc. She's already determined to room with Tennyo, so they convince Ayla to switch rooms. BUT, it isn't yet listed that way on the big directory. So a note arrives (following the listing on the temporary directory) slipped under the door and directed to Trevor, only smeared, so that it's directed to "Treyor" or something like that. (The whole point was to get all the girls involved and thinking about the note before we figure out that it's directed to Ayla.) Then Ayla gets mad, and off they go!
Hmmm, a bit confused and over-complicated.
In any case, it WAS directed at Trevor/Ayla, and was NOT involved with Billie Wilson or the Ultra-X-Amine plot.

You might be thinking of this section from Jade 5. They're all together in a sleepover, discussing the attacks that happened during Revenge of the Alphas:
| Quote: | “Okay,” Hank decided, “so whoever is behind all this is either massively uninformed, or monumentally stupid.”
“Which has Tansy written all over it,” Ayla insisted. “But seriously, when we’re putting the clues together, I don’t really count. The dweeb-head who targeted me admitted she was doing it on her own. She was just trying to score points with the Alphas.”
“Oh, I really believe that,” Jade said, sarcastically. “I’ve told you how Tansy does her hypnosis, right? She probably slid up behind Miss Dweeb-head and started dropping ‘suggestions’, like ‘The Alphas would be sooo impressed if I just wasted Tansy’s number one enemy Trevor.’ Come on, Ayla, you know that girl is completely obsessed with you. Now that I think of it, I’m starting to wonder whether she might have been the one who dropped off your blackmail letter, way back on Ninja Night.”
“No way!” Ayla shouted. “That’s just stupid!” But her voice began to peter out. “Tansy wouldn’t have tried… well, I mean, why would she… Hmmm.” She looked up at Jade. “You think she might have done the blackmail letter?”
Jade shrugged. “She could have. Keep her on your list of suspects.”

Is that what you were thinking of?

You are trying to get them to work.. I'd refuse to week 3 week old anything personally, but would definitely rather starve to death than eat 3 week old Taco Hell food.

I agree on the Taco Hell, but what about some 6 year old chedar? Or 8?
Cheese by prescription only!
OH Hi guys, gals, both, neither, several, none or all of the before mentioned. Back from Hawaii in one piece except for a cold -- I wonder if I caught it on the nine and a quarter hour flight from Chicago to Honalulu?
May work part of the trip into Timeout. BIG HINT: the road to Hana on Maui is a bit twisted, though the one on e the north end of Maui is no picnic either, but the Views!
Would be nice to see more of Ayla's story someday.
