| Sir Lee wrote on Fri, 13 January 2012 13:43 | Actually, up to now I don't think we have seen any evidence that Josh/Josie can do anything that Ecila can't. And Ecila has decades of experience, while Josie is a rank newbie. Ecila can control her traveling, while Josie can't (yet). So, it's more likely that any outfit interested in interstellar travel would try to hire Ecila first.

Except Elcia would scare the Cr@þ out of them since she is now a Class X entity.
Edit: if Josie ends up in Poe,(since the TG is now know) Even if she ends up in Hawthorn(that teleporting while asleep thing) I can see Ayla preemptively getting her one of Bart's Belts, despite the possibility of Naked Fey issues.
And the first thing in the belt, Travel food and water.

| Ecila is non-human, crazy, and dangerous. Those would be reasons to hire Josh first.

Is she (non-human, I mean)? She was certainly born human, and I don't remember any direct evidence that she has changed enough to no longer be considered human. Well, she does have an unusual worldview, but that probably comes from being "raised by wolves" so to speak. She might be mentally non-human, somewhat (like Valentine Michael Smith in Stranger in a Strange Land, although her earliest experiences are human).
And that takes us to item 2:
"Crazy." Crazy is an adjective that only applies to an individual's behavior compared to their collectivity. She only can be considered crazy if we first consider her human and apply human standards to her. You can't consider her both non-human and crazy. For what it's worth, I consider her crazy too. But human.
And people have shown an amazing willingness to put up with craziness when there is something they want very much (money, research...) at stake.
"Dangerous." Certainly. But then, Josie is also dangerous, in the same way that letting someone whose total experience with transport machines is a couple hours of Driver's Ed to fly a Concorde.
Stretching the analogy, Josie might eventually learn and prove to be a good and reliable pilot, but that will take time. The crazy girl has shown she can make that Concorde do Immelmans right now. So you can bet that there will be somebody who thinks he can "handle" Ecila and make her behave.
Don't call me Shirley. You will surely make me surly.

| Yes, we have a statement to that effect (from herself if I recall correctly) that tells us that she has changed considerably since she left her home.

| No. We can use the "current and potential employees of the company" as a pool.

| So you recognize that this is a problem. Since I was saying that this was a problem that contributed to make Josh comparatively more attractive than Ecila rather than arguing that it made it impossible to want to hire her, you are actually not contradicting my point but supporting it.

I also wonder if her math class takes place in the Magic Department building.
|
Probably not a bad idea, if only for the extra wards in case something comes visiting.

It is fairly likely .
(all my uninformed oponion )
Id also wager to guess that Josh's use of his power would be fairly closely watched and regulated on school grounds ,
He got lucky with the not so naughty tentacle beast incident but I don't think the campus would be keen on him accidentally introducing extradimensional flu's , viruses , biological quasi living material , psychic hook worms , and waste born symbiotes (not to mention the dread parasitic nose leeches ) as a byproduct of him jaunting all over the place as a lark then back to school .
(way out there idea with no basis in reality )
me and drunkie have been watching the series Farscape from begining to end while arting and are now into season 4 (yay) Id be greatly amused if Josh could be wired into a ship so that he could ferry others extradimensionally .
"well my ship "the pussycats" can do the kessel run in one arn ! its not much to look at ...much like her pilot but it gets the job done . "
<Josh over intercom> "I heard that !! "

Best to keep girlies away from complicated electronics like that and let the computers handle things.
