Mine are odd too...some hard-tech look bit a lot of Biotech Look as well. The terms come from the Trinity Universe. (Trinity/Aberrant/Adventure)

I think they took out the black hole generator and instead put in a hyperdrive and nuclear reactor. That was why the aliens freaked out. That and the transmission of his anti-tech field they got from Oz.
