I suppose it was inevitable. I'm now officially published, so I'm opening this corner of the forum to a discussion of all things Outcast. Damn you canon cabal for making me do this myself rather than being lazy.
*winces as the cabal collar delivers an electric shock*
Yes Masters, I will obey without complaint.
Ok so feel free to open fire!

Jericho: "Get your mind out of the gutter, you're blocking my periscope."
Eldritch: "Hey, I'm a classic case of what happens when you give a nerd a gun."

I will have to read the updated posting.

| Quote: | A question about strength and stamina Confused
Is there an chart for strength and stamina for shape shifters?
|
shifters, no, not really, besides I don't do much with shifters.
| Quote: | How strong are Caitlin, Razor, Diamond and Jericho?
|
Caitlin and Diamondback are the two strongest, both floating in the range of 1000-1600 pond bench weight apiece.
Razor's just really strong, think Weightlifter.
Jericho's got the awesome strength of a fifteen year old boy.
| Quote: | And how would they stack up to your every day young shifter?
|
every day young shifters are weird, they don't have a fixed strength index so far as I know, since shifters aren't exactly like exemplars. But strengthwise exemplars tend to be the more powerhoused of the two. there are always exceptions
| Quote: | Is there any scale? Confused
|
No, there really isn't. There's no hard and fast laws of strength for shifters, unlike there are in some source materiels such as say White Wolf Games. I'm not the best person to field this question to.
Plus, strength is a relative term, so if you could gimmie an idea on specific questions I might be able to give better answers.

Just read your stories JG and must say, loved them. You got a very interesting character in Caitlin, kinda a mix between Fey and Hive, but different than both. All your background and details about artificers are facinating, and can't wait to see more of what she can do.
I am kinda wondering though how the general magic and gadgeteering population will recieve her ability to disassemble anything. Would be disheartening for one of them to build a super weapon, only to have Caitlen throw a bucket of water on it and make it explode.
Along those lines, should be interesting when she meets Jade, and realizes that she isn't really a gadgeteer. Wonder if she could even destroy Destiny's Wave if she really wanted to, after all, anything that can be made can be unmade.
And lastly, I'm assuming that her intuition doesn't extend to orgaincs, or like you said, she'd make a pretty decent heart surgeon in a pinch.
Enough for now, and again, welcome to the published world of whateley!
Damn infectious writer's bug.

More is coming... Yesss... OW! Bender quit hitting me when I act weird! Now where were we?

We will likely see mixed reviews, ranging from "I bet I can stump her!" to "NOOOOO! My Mind-Control ray! You broke it!"

When she meets Jade... You might be surprised, and as far as Destiny's Wave... Not tellin' MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Alas, Caitlin's idea of open heart surgery involves a Bowie knife and a shallow grave. So no, she's not yet capable of heart surgery.

Why am I suddenly assailed by visions of Beast War's Megatron? Yesss..... indeed, it would not be something easily mistaken, Noo. In fact, I think I should try to find something else to think about, Yeeess! ::pulls out a hammer to be ready should I affirm or dis-affirm in excess again for the good of the rest of the world.... yee... OUCH!::

I would have thought she'd have used the Bowie Knife to whittle a wooden spoon to use as an implement for open heart surgery. Heh, who'd a thunk she'd be so unimaginative as to just use the knife directly.
Can't wait to read more of your stuff. ::begins to plan several machinations that would either ingeniously lead to J.G. releasing a pile of stories all at once should they succeed, or cause my keyboard to explode torching every last hair on my body should they fail::

I don't remember, were any of the previous artfiers Chinese? Could one of Catlin's predicessors have created Destiny's Wave? Then the sword master/priest that is the voice of the blade would recognize Catlin and possibly vica versa as I believe she recieved all their memories and knowleged as a parting gift from Catlin freeing their bound souls.
Wouldthe blade be happy to see her or angry, ie was she blaced in the blade voluntarily -- I think she was but am not cetain.
Need ... more story ... soon. Beging to ... talklikeShatner.

I'm not tellin' I'm not tellin' NYAH NYAH NYAH NYAH!
*Dances around John like an idiot*
Seriously though folks, those answers john just asked are actually very pertinent to upcoming stories, but due to me being me, I don't think sharing out that information would be very appropriate at this moment. It'd spoil too many surprises!
As far as the old Razorback story and Ashes of an Old Life, for now I ask you to forget it ever existed. I have to completely rewrite it, and the follow-up so that it fits in better with peoples' plans for the Whateley future. So consider it ripped. Once I get the rewritings done I'll post the old versions in fan fiction so you all can see the stories that weren't destined for Canon as written. After the new versions are posted of course. This may take a while.

Minor issue that could conceivably have some relevance down the road:
How important is WHO does the tattoos on the Artificer? I mean, J.G. has made it clear that the ink has to have some "personal sacrifice" by the would-be Master, and that the needle gets "attuned" to a person (presumably also the would-be Master). Now, if Caitlin could:
1. Figure out what is to be her "personal sacrifice" so the ink is attuned to herself;
2. Use a needle attuned to herself;
3. Do the tattoos herself;
it seems likely that she would be her own Master. Now, she is working on (1), and (2) seems easy, but there are problems with (3) -- namely, how will she do her own back?
I mean, it COULD be that whoever is the actual tattoo artist is unimportant to the overall scheme of things. Or it could be that it has SOME influence (maybe the needle will get attuned to the artist over the long hours?).
She should at least investigate the matter with the Magic department before starting the tat job. However, this is not a pressing question at the moment, since unless she figures (1) out it's all academic.
Don't call me Shirley. You will surely make me surly.

| Bladedancer | As for the sword knowing Caitlin, who knows? It's not like they run in the same circles. Come on...it's obvious that Team Kimba is the much more popular group as opposed to those GSD corner freaks.

|
that may be the case, but I, as a reader, enjoy *Almost* anything the Canon-Cabal write. "GSD Corner Freaks" as you put it (and the literary girls) seem to me a lot closer to "Normal", i.e. real life, people then the babes (and hank) of Kimba Korner if only in one basic regard:
they are not the "Beautiful people". as I wander around this great nation of mine (USA) in my capacity as an OTR truck driver, I see a lot of VERY good looking people who will have nothing to do with the likes of me simple because of my employment.
of course most truckers would fit the description of "GSD Minor to moderate" (including myself) but that's completely besides the point
any character that "walks off the page" as a true to life person, that I do not have to suspend disbelief for, that seems as real as any person I have ever met (with a couple of exceptions, of course) is a character I enjoy reading. Jade, Catlin, Tenneyo (well, for the day to day stuff anyway), James, and many others are example of this.
(lurking field back on)
