ARC does seem to have the wrong impression of Ecila, she's not making these people go bat shit crazy, she's trying to help them deal with what they've discovered; not very successfully, mind, but it really takes a special mind to deal with non-Euclidean GOOness, it does look like Josh may have the appropriate bent to survive, if he can ever get to where he remembers to carry the one during his calculations.

We don't really know in full what their opinion of her is, yet. She is quite powerful and unpredictable, whimsical even, to the point that some might doubt her sanity. That's the sort of person ARC ought to be worried about.

Given what she did to Josh, even if she means well that doesn't mean she's doing good things, where the humans involved are concerned.

Let me put it this way: it's not that the ARC people think Ecila is evil, necessarily; it's more like they see her like a ten-year-old waving around a Star Trek phaser rifle. Ecila is a genius, but she's very immature in human terms; and *because* she's a genius and *because* she has a lot more experience with Things From The Dungeon Dimensions than just about anybody else, she's also very arrogant, never occurring to her that she *is* ignorant about a lot of things. Josh being a big case in point.

Did what to Josh? You mean the 'remove his dick' part? I think that what she did was to look at Josh's BIT and used that to repair his crotch. It could be that you meant something else, but as far as I can tell she never really did anything to Josh. She may have merely accelerated certain 'developments'. I'm not sure if I'm right about this though.

That seems like an apt description of the kind of person Ecila is, but I'm just not sure that ARC see it that way. From what little ARC said about Ecila it seems more like they actually blame her for a more active involvement in driving people crazy. Could also be that I'm not remembering exactly what was said and of course the fact that this is my own interpretation of what was said. Ah well, I'll probably reread the currently posted 4 parts when there is a new part to read, just because it's a great story.

That was my impression, that ARC thinks Ecila is actively nasty; after all, these guys who went bug shit crazy all have something in common, Ecila, and their version of Occam's Razor says it's cause and effect.

Yes, that - without consulting him or anyone qualified to decide for him first. I want to explain it with an analogy - you leave blueprints for a helicopter in your glove compartment, and when you crash your car Ecila assumes it's actually a helicopter and rebuilds it to perform like one. Sure, it's according to plan - but it's not what you were expecting, and now you need a new car Neutral

I agree that it would have been better if Ecila had asked permission first before she did that. Unfortunately though, Josh was unconscious and the wound at his crotch could have been severe enough that it might have killed him from blood loss alone (I'm not sure about the severity of the wound anymore). Another thing is the fact that Ecila didn't know that Josh was supposed to have a dick Razz. She didn't even know what it was until Josh pointed it out to her, after which she started doing her research on dicks Very Happy.

On the other hand, if Josh hadn't swiped Ecila's glasses early in the story, he could have gone insane a long time ago. And Ecila didn't want him to have those glasses.

Just sayin',
